With a playoff win on the line, Shawnee rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Urbana Hillclimbers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-9 on May 9th.
Noah Belcher was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Finnell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shawnee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Urbana only managed six hits.
Shawnee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-15 record this season. As for Urbana, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13-1.
Looking ahead, Shawnee will challenge Roger Bacon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight. Urbana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
