Argos is 1-7 against LaVille since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dragons will welcome the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. Argos has given up an average of 16.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Argos is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 25th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against North Miami, falling 18-5.
Argos saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Beatty, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. David Adey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LaVille). Everything went their way against Tippecanoe Valley on Friday as they made off with a 17-3 win. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Brayden Schwitz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of LaVille's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, LaVille got a massive performance out of Karson Quinn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Quinn a new career-high. Andrew Wolford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
LaVille always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Argos' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for LaVille, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Argos might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from LaVille in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
