Softball Recap: Munford Wins Going Away Against Anniston

Munford won the last time they faced Anniston and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lions put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 18-8 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Madison Arnold made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Munford got a massive performance out of Kastin Lathem, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chloe Pickette, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

Munford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Munford's record is now 21-5-1. As for Anniston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Munford will head out to challenge Sylacauga at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Anniston, they will welcome Saks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
