Softball Recap: Hanover-Horton Makes It Six in a Row at Home

After only two runs in their last contest, Hanover-Horton made sure to put some runs up on the board against East Jackson on Monday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Comets have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexyn DuBois was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Halle Swihart was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Hanover-Horton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Jackson only posted a batting average of .000.

Hanover-Horton pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for East Jackson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
