Brunswick has gone a perfect 4-0 against Shaker Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will challenge the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Brunswick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
Brunswick came out on top against Hilliard Davidson on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Blue Devils walked away with a 13-8 win over the Wildcats.
Brunswick got a massive performance out of Addison Compton, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Delainey Andolek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Brunswick hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters every time they've taken the field this season.
While Shaker Heights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Firestone on Thursday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Scout Harvey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Harvey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emerson Miller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Eleanor Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
The win was the third in a row for Shaker Heights, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brunswick, their record is now 7-2.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brunswick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .426. However, it's not like Shaker Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Brunswick's way against Shaker Heights in their previous matchup last Wednesday, as Brunswick made off with a 20-0 win. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
