The Buckhorn Bucks waltzed into their game Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Hazel Green with a 58-53 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Buckhorn also won the last time the pair played last Friday.
Hazel Green lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Butterfield, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Butterfield continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pedro Lazaro, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Buckhorn has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Hazel Green, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckhorn will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lee at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Hazel Green is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Muscle Shoals at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Muscle Shoals is ranked 33rd, while Hazel Green is ranked 31st).
