Basketball Game Preview: Diller-Odell Griffin vs. Tri County Trojans

Two dominant guards in Myleigh Weers and Isabelle Peters are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Diller-Odell Griffin will take on the Tri County Trojans in a tournament on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Diller-Odell saw some tournament action on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 46-24 margin over Deshler. The Griffin pushed the score to 40-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Weers was her usual excellent self, putting up 26 points. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Baileigh Vilda, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tri County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 65-29 victory over Meridian. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-13.

Diller-Odell better keep an eye on Peters. She was instrumental in Tri County's win, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 steals. Peters is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Siems, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 17 points.

Tri County was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only posted seven assists.

The win made it two in a row for Diller-Odell and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Tri County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Diller-Odell beat Tri County 52-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Does Diller-Odell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tri County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
