Baseball Recap: Fairmont Senior Has No Trouble Against East Hardy

Fairmont Senior lost to East Hardy back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Polar Bears were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Polar Bears have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cole Sammons made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Sammons was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Cam Peschl and Bigelow Trevor did most of the damage at the plate: Peschl got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Trevor went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Peschl has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times he's played. Logan Canfield was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fairmont Senior is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for East Hardy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
