Basketball Recap: FAU High Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tristan Etienne and Jarret Mauvais

After a string of three wins, FAU High's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 56-45 to the Coral Springs Charter Panthers. The Owls lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in January of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 71-25 score last time.

Jarret Mauvais and Tristan Etienne certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Mauvais posted 15 points, while Etienne put up 13 points. The contest was Mauvais' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Antonio Mitkov was another key player, putting up seven points.

FAU High's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Coral Springs Charter, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

FAU High won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sheridan Hills Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan Hills Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for Coral Springs Charter, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Chaminade-Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chaminade-Madonna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Coral Springs Charter likes a good challenge.
