Parkland dropped their record down to 8-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 3-0 to the Whitehall Zephyrs. The Trojans were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Zephyrs' pitcher proved too tough.
Allison Hunsberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
As for Whitehall, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Whitehall's side, not much got past Morgan Laub, who gave up just four hits to keep Parkland off the board. Laub has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
