After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paul VI, Flint Hill was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Maret Frogs 20-10. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Cate Stanley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Stanley was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jane Stanley was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Clement, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Flint Hill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Flint Hill pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Maret, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Coming up, Flint Hill will face off against National Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. National Cathedral will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Flint Hill surely won't give up without a fight. Maret does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
