Make it six blowout wins for the Jackson-Reed Tigers this season. They blew past SEED DC 60-35. Jackson-Reed's victory was all the more impressive since SEED DC was averaging only 28.33 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Kryslynn Stewart, who scored 12 points along with six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sara Mesikir, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
The win (which was Jackson-Reed's third in a row) raised their record to 8-5-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.67 points. As for SEED DC, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season.
Jackson-Reed will be playing in front of their home fans against Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked ninth, while Jackson-Reed is ranked third). As for SEED DC, they will head out on the road to square off against Washington Latin Public Charter School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Washington Latin Public Charter School: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while SEED DC has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
