The Wyoming Area Warriors will face off against the Berwick Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wyoming Area has four straight victories, Berwick has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Wyoming Area had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Hanover Area on Wednesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Hawkeyes. Considering the Warriors have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cody Meade made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Wyoming Area is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Meade was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Alex Vacula was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. David Fath was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Wyoming Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pittston hit Berwick with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Patriots, falling 9-2.
Berwick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Sult, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Wyoming Area pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Wyoming Area's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Berwick, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wyoming Area continue to outrun the ball?
Wyoming Area beat Berwick 7-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
