Cisco extended their winning streak to nine on Friday, bumping them up to 9-1. They claimed a resounding 56-24 victory over the Olney Cubs. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-10.
Cisco found their leader in sophomore Colby McIlroy, who threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes.
Cisco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Cisco, adding 20 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carter Toof, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.
As for Olney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1074th, while Cisco is ranked 349th).
Olney's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Cortinez, who threw for 126 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 43 yards.
