The Carolina Forest Panthers's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past Hoggard 51-49. This was payback for Carolina Forest, who suffered a 49-44 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Daniel Allen, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Zech Gardner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Hoggard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayzion Davis. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Davis also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Herring, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Carolina Forest's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Hoggard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carolina Forest will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Waccamaw at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Waccamaw is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Hoggard and Pamlico County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pamlico County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Hoggard is ranked 147th).
