Smethport is 0-9 against Johnsonburg since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Smethport Hubbers are on the road again and play against the Johnsonburg Rams at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Smethport came up short against Northern Potter and fell 54-41. While losing is never fun, Smethport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Northern Potter is ranked 266th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carson Dunn , who scored 14 points. Brentton McDowell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Johnsonburg pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 81-65 fall against DuBois. Johnsonburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Smethport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Johnsonburg, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Smethport came up short against Johnsonburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 54-43. Can Smethport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
