Odyssey Institute is 1-7 against Kingman since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Odyssey Institute Minotaur will look to defend their home court against the Kingman Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Odyssey Institute will be strutting in after a win while Kingman will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Wednesday, Odyssey Institute sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-34 win over St. John Paul II Catholic. The win was just what Odyssey Institute needed coming off of a 36-16 loss in their prior game.
Odyssey Institute can attribute much of their success to Shelby Hunt, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Hunt hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara Grubbs, who scored 7 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Kingman, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-26 loss to Lee Williams on Thursday. Kingman has not had much luck with Lee Williams recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Odyssey Institute's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Kingman, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Odyssey Institute came up short against Kingman when the teams last played back in January, falling 37-26. Can Odyssey Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
