The Pike Central Chargers won the last time they faced the Tecumseh Braves, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Pike Central put the hurt on Tecumseh with a sharp 71-50 win. Given Pike Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Tecumseh is ranked 380th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pike Central was led to victory by Quade Morton and Julian Gish. Morton dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Gish scored 28 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gish has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chase Ridao, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Pike Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Tecumseh, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Pike Central will head out on the road to square off against Tell City at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Tell City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Tecumseh, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Gibson Southern at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
