After each having a week off, the Salpointe Catholic Lancers and the Basha Bears will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Salpointe Catholic came up short against Mesa and fell 23-14.
Despite their loss, Salpointe Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. David Rushing, who picked up 94 receiving yards and one score, was perhaps the best of all. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 81 yards.

Salpointe Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mark Woods, Oj Flores, and Nas Pedrego picked up one apiece. Pedrego also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.
Meanwhile, Basha put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Westwood a 56-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Salpointe Catholic better keep an eye on Brodie Vehrs. He was instrumental in Basha's win, throwing for 271 yards and four TDs on only 14 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Roberts, who gained 90 total yards and two touchdowns.
Salpointe Catholic's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Basha, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
