Softball Recap: Hopewell Wins Going Away Against Mallard Creek

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hough, Hopewell was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Mallard Creek Mavericks 14-3. Considering the Titans have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kaylin Nelson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Addison Pless was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Hopewell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hopewell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Mallard Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hopewell will square off against Mooresville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mallard Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Cox Mill at 5:30 p.m. The Mavericks are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
