Basketball Recap: Weeki Wachee Takes a Loss

Weeki Wachee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 75-74 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pasco Pirates. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Weeki Wachee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan White, who went 13 for 21 on his way to 36 points in addition to five boards and three steals. With that strong performance, White is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Kellogg, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Weeki Wachee was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Pasco's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremiah Miller led the charge by going 12 of 16 on his way to 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion DeJesus, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Weeki Wachee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Pasco, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Weeki Wachee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-67 loss against Hudson on the 20th. As for Pasco, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-37 defeat against Clearwater Central Catholic on the 20th.
