The Baker Gators will take on the Freeport Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Baker's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Laurel Hill 16-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gators needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Emily Whiddon was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Bendickson, who went 1-for-3 with six RBI and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Michayla Rose was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Baker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Freeport came up short against Walton on Monday and fell 4-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lexi Worrell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith McDonald, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.
Baker is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Freeport's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Baker has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Freeport, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Baker keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Everything went Baker's way against Freeport in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Baker made off with a 10-4 victory. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
