The Marshall Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Madison on the road and fell 72-29. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 839th, while the Mavericks are ranked 177th).
Despite the loss, Marshall still got an impressive performance from Aric Goodman, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Goodman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Josiah Powell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Caden Cooper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Madison, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Moreno, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Marshall has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season. As for Madison, their win bumped their record up to 22-12.
