Pine Grove has gone 7-2 against Wheeler recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pine Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Hickory Flat get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Memory Mauney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Mauney was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Childs was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anaston Christian, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pine Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Wheeler made sure to put some runs up on the board against West Lowndes on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 10-0.
Like Pine Grove, Wheeler also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Kate Beckham. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Beckham was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Macie Arnold was excellent, earning two runs and three stolen bases. Savannah Hancock also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Wheeler has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Pine Grove, their record now sits at 15-13.
Pine Grove suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Wheeler in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
