TEXAS CITY, Texas - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Texas City (Texas) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Stingarees bested Ball (Galveston, Texas) 55-25.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Stingarees were up 42-12 at the half.
Texas City expanded its lead to 37 points entering the fourth quarter. TC scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Andrew Allen to
Armanti Foreman.
A big 28-point second quarter helped the Stingarees secure the win. Texas City scored on a defensive touchdown, a defensive touchdown, an Allen touchdown pass to Foreman and a touchdown pass by Allen to
Bobby O'Neal in the quarter.
Allen stood out for TC in the win. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Ball, who notched a 35-34 victory over Santa Fe in its previous outing.
Texas City (7-0) will play a 4A Region III District 24 game against Galena Park next week, while Ball (2-5) will take on Goose Creek Memorial also in a 4A Region III District 24 game.
