Mesquite is a perfect 4-0 against St. Mary since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Knights at 3:45 p.m. Mesquite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Mesquite made easy work of Marcos de Niza and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Cooper Leroy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Kash Rogers was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Gift, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Mesquite hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 14-4 to Crismon. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since March 13th.
Luis Mejia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Mikey Nanez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Mesquite, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mesquite hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like St. Mary's struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
