Kendrick is 0-10 against Spencer since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kendrick Cherokees will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spencer Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Kendrick scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Jordan at home to the tune of 77-48. The win was some much needed relief for Kendrick as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kendrick relied on the efforts of Andrew Spivey, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Evan Allison, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Spivey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Harris, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Spencer's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 78-77 to Cairo.
Kendrick's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Spencer, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.
Kendrick came up short against Spencer in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 60-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Spencer's Joe Dozier, who scored 19 points along with five steals.
