5A Region I District 5 recap September 24, 2013
Lewisville moved up to 194 from 327 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region I District 5. The Farmers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Arlington 14-10.
Flower Mound fell to Sachse 55-17 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Kaden Smith was the best receiver in the league this week as Marcus lost to Plano East. Smith racked up 6 receptions for 73 yards.
Alex Albright was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 108 yards as the Marauders lost to the Panthers. Teammate Mark Demery added to the ground attack by rushing for 81 yards.
Carson Proffitt put up the best numbers in passing as Hebron lost to Allen. He finished with 15 completions for 168 yards. Proffitt's favorite target this week was Justin Montgomery, who caught 3 passes for 73 yards.
Leading 5A Region I District 5 in both passing and receiving yards, Marcus' Taylor Gibbs and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. Gibbs has thrown for 448 yards this season, while Smith has 14 catches for 222 yards. Treyvon Hughes from the Hawks leads the league in rushing with 363 yards.
Lewisville and the Colts played the most contested game in the league this week, with Lewisville eventually emerging with a 14-10 victory. Matt McDougal threw for 58 yards during the win.
