The Douglas Tigers pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Damonte Ranch. While losing is never fun, Douglas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Damonte Ranch is ranked seventh).
Douglas lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jett Lehmann, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Thacker, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Damonte Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jace Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Anderson hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Shane Sisco was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Douglas has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas will take on Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas is facing Carson at the right time seeing as Carson is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Damonte Ranch, they will be playing at home against Galena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Damonte Ranch's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Galena has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
