The Wharton Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 70-13 victory over Freedom. The result was nothing new for Wharton, who have now won five contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Wharton found their leader in underclassman Kaytee Tyler, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tamara Bryant, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Freedom still got an impressive performance from Emma Schroeder, who scored nine points.
The victory for Wharton keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.56 points. As for Freedom, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Wharton and Middleton will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Middleton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Wharton is ranked 83rd). Freedom will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Plant City at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
