After a string of four wins, the Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Annawan.
When it comes to explaining why Lowpoint-Washburn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Baylor Steffen. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with three steals. The matchup was Steffen's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Schumacher, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Lowpoint-Washburn's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Annawan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
Lowpoint-Washburn and Midland will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Midland is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Annawan, they will head out on the road to face off against Wethersfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wethersfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Annawan is ranked 221st).
