The Robert C. Byrd Eagles will challenge the Washington Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Robert C. Byrd gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Lincoln 9-1. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Xavier Carvelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ashton Shaffer was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cooper Floyd was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Robert C. Byrd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, while Washington put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Hedgesville. The Patriots put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Like Robert C. Byrd, Washington also got a great game from a two-way player: Alex Danner. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Danner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sven Dupree, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Robert C. Byrd's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.
