Two dominant in Anna Haskins and Shelby Higgins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Community Vikings/Viqueens are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Richland Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
Community's 27-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Macon County 35-31. While losing is never fun, Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Macon County is ranked 119th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brooklyn Yoes, who scored 8 points. Alyssa White was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Even though they lost, Community were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Macon County only racked up four.
Richland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 23 points or more this season. They breezed by Zion Christian Academy at home to the tune of 61-3. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-0.
Cornersville's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Community's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Community came up short against Richland in their previous matchup back in November, falling 50-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Richland's Higgins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Community knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
