This season hasn't been kind to the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators, who are still winless after their 13th match. They were the victim of a tough 51-27 defeat at the hands of Cross on Wednesday. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Lowcountry Leadership struggled afterwards.
Lowcountry Leadership's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keziah Darby, who scored 12 points. That was a full 44.4% of Lowcountry Leadership's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Middleton, who scored 18 points along with six steals. Middleton is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. Diamonique Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight steals.
Lowcountry Leadership's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.1 points per game. As for Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Lowcountry Leadership will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Burke is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game this season. As for Cross, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Baptist Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Trojans are ranked 91st).
