If the Stone Tomcats were feeling good off their 44-13 takedown of the Vancleave Bulldogs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Stone had to suffer through a rough 61-21 loss at the hands of Laurel. Stone was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.
Laurel found their leader in underclassman Kayllis Walker, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Walker hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zy Evans, who scored 17 points.
Stone's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Laurel, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stone will square off against Gautier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gautier is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Laurel, they will head out on the road to face off against Vancleave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vancleave is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
