In what's become a running theme this season, the Mt. Vernon Rams gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They blew past Carbondale 74-37 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-15.
Mt. Vernon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Melaina Zedalis out in front who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Tiara Johnson, who scored 20 points.
Mt. Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Carbondale, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will take on Cahokia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cahokia is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Carbondale, they will be playing at home against Vienna at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
