Baseball Recap: University School Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

University School waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Kirtland Hornets 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Preppers, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

University School let Jack Nelson and Deacon Nelson run wild. Jack went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Deacon got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryce Fielding, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

University School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

University School's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kirtland, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-8.

University School and Kirtland are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Preppers will challenge Padua Franciscan at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kirtland, they will host Independence at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
