Valley - South recap October 1, 2013
Alex Hintze of Oshkosh North ran for the longest rushing play in Valley - South this season against Fond du Lac last week. Hintze's team defeated the Cardinals as he sprinted for 81 yards on the play and finished with 256 in all.
Oshkosh North added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fond du Lac, 42-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for Chris Kujawa's team.
Marshfield's dynamic duo of Lucas Zuiker and Brad Krueger proved to be unstoppable against Lincoln, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zuiker threw for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns and Krueger had 47 yards receiving.
Cullen Bump was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Tigers topped the Red Raiders. The 5-foot-9 senior.
Hintze was a force in the backfield as the Spartans defeated the Cardinals.
Hintze provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Oshkosh North beat Fond du Lac.
5-foot-9 quarterback Nate Neveau of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 614. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jeff Allison. The Marshfield star has 15 catches for 360 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Marshfield takes on Menasha. Dennis Goettl's team is currently in second, while the Bluejays are in third.
Oshkosh North was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Cardinals. The Spartans came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
