Liberty Christian is 2-8 against Midland Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Liberty Christian Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Midland Christian Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Liberty Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Midland Christian likes a good challenge.
Liberty Christian pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-64 to Southwest Christian School. While losing is never fun, Liberty Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 695th, while Southwest Christian School is ranked 182nd).
The losing side was boosted by Max Hinds, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. Chuka Akpom was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Midland Christian entered their tilt with Southwest Christian School with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Midland Christian pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Southwest Christian School. 52 seems to be a good number for Midland Christian as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Liberty Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Midland Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 23-5.
Liberty Christian ended up a good deal behind Midland Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 51-37. Can Liberty Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
