This season hasn't been kind to The Socorro Bulldogs, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were beaten by Coronado 52-7 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Socorro couldn't push the score so high this time.
Trevante Thrasher threw for 129 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Diego Aguirre was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Adrian Acosta ll rushed for 30 yards.
Leading Coronado to victory were Blake Randag and Thomas Murray. Randag threw for 82 yards and three touchdowns, while Murray rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Socorro's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.8 points per game. As for Coronado, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Socorro will be playing at home against Americas at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Americas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Socorro in Texas (Americas is ranked 302nd, while Socorro is ranked 947th). As for Coronado, they will head out on the road to face off against Montwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
