Limestone is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will venture away from home to face off against the Pekin Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Limestone came out on top against Galva on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Rockets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 10-0 shutout.
KENLEY GRAHAM looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on BRIANNA BIRKETT, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. MCKINLEY ALLISON was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Limestone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Pekin sidestepped Mundelein for a 1-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.
The result came thanks to Zoe Lindahl's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Abbie Walker was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Pekin's record now sits at 2-0. As for Limestone, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Limestone couldn't quite finish off Pekin in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
