The Sierra Vista Dons will head out on the road to take on the Duarte Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sierra Vista's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Baldwin Park. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Isabella Ortega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kayla Iniguez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Romero, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Sierra Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Duarte came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Aztecs 12-5.
Alyssa Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Duarte got a massive performance out of Valeria Hinajosa, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniella Matiarena, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Duarte pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Sierra Vista, their record now sits at 10-7.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sierra Vista has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Duarte struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sierra Vista suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Duarte when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
