Softball Recap: Western Branch Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Western Branch came out on top against York on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Bruins walked away with an 8-5 win over the Falcons. That's two games straight that the Bruins have won by exactly three runs.

Haylee Bandura looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anna Kerns was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Creef, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Western Branch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Western Branch pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for York, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Western Branch will host Oscar Smith at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for York, they are taking a road trip to take on Bruton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
