The Fairmont Firebirds will face off against the Miamisburg Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Fairmont was able to grind out a solid win over Springfield, taking the game 7-4. The Firebirds haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jaylin Turner made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Fairmont let Carlee Netherton and Paige Russell run wild. Netherton went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Russell went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hannah Perdue, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Miamisburg came out on top against Centerville on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Vikings took their match against the Elks 6-2. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Elks on their field since April 12, 2023.
Rhianna Pigman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Lauren Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela Holp, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Miamisburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Fairmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Miamisburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
