The Jensen Beach Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. The matchup between Jensen Beach and Camden County wasn't particularly close, with Jensen Beach falling 63-49. While losing is never fun, Jensen Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 255th in Florida, while Camden County is ranked 37th in Georgia).
Jensen Beach lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Danielle Bell, who scored 11 points. Jayla Brinkley was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Camden County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mahliya Reeder, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Akeelah Bryan, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Jensen Beach has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 4-7. As for Camden County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Jensen Beach and Viera will face off at 9:55 a.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Viera is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Camden County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Menendez at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Menendez is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game.
