Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the McClave Cardinals proved on Friday. They strolled past Stanton County with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. With that win, McClave brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Abrielle Gomez went supernova for McClave, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 10 steals. Another player making a difference was McKayla Kiniston, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 steals.
Kynzi Fehringer and Avery Scott certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Fehringer scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Scott scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds. Scott scored a full 27.8% of Stanton County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
McClave's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Stanton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
McClave won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Syracuse at 4:30 p.m. on December 9th. As for Stanton County, they will take on Cheyenne Wells at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
