Springboro has gone a perfect 10-0 against Northmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will take on the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m.
On Monday, Springboro came up short against Beavercreek and fell 9-4. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vince Fortkamp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Drew Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northmont). They put the hurt on Fairmont with a sharp 10-0 win on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Northmont also got a great performance from Brady Canan as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Canan has become a key player for the Thunderbolts: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-8-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Drake Sauber was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Fuduloff was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Northmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Northmont and bumps their season record up to 5-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Springboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Springboro was able to grind out a solid win over Northmont in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
