The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 52-44 victory over Millard South. For Papillion-LaVista, this counts as revenge for the 61-52 defeat Millard South walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Papillion-LaVista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demarcus Mccarty, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sam Boudreau, who scored 12 points.
Millard South lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Jensen, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Cooper, who scored 11 points.
Papillion-LaVista now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Millard South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Papillion-LaVista's road trip will continue as they head out to face Omaha South at 7:15 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Omaha South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. Millard South and Papillion-LaVista South will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Papillion-LaVista South will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
