Nickerson and the Lions are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Nickerson Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Lyons Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nickerson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Nickerson pushed their score all the way to 58, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smoky Valley. Nickerson has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Taylor Engelland, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Skyler Wakefield, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Nickerson were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lyons won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-33 walloping at the hands of Haven.
Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Lyons, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Nickerson came up short against the Lions in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 62-50. Can Nickerson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
