Alamosa is 0-6 against Delta since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Mean Moose will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.
Two weeks ago, Alamosa came up short against Pueblo Central and fell 21-14. The loss put an end to the Mean Moose's undefeated start to the season.
Although Alamosa took the loss, they still got scores from Victor Zepeda and Aj Baker.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delta). They blew past Rawlins, posting a 58-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Alamosa better keep an eye on Deacon Shean. He was instrumental in Delta's win, picking up 171 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Shean a new career-high.
Delta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Delta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jp Gallegos and TE/LB Morfitt. Morfitt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Delta's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Alamosa, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Alamosa has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Delta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Alamosa was taken down by Delta 41-12 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Mean Moose, Ty Reed (who rushed for 80 yards and four scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
